Handicrafts and Home textiles production unit are the 2 different types of social enterprises promoted by HRDF in order to create employment for most disadvantaged women and young people in Tsunami affected area in Tamilnadu, INDIA. Various types of carvings such stone, wood, shell carvings and types of fancy garlands (Neck chains) are produced at handicraft unit. Bags, pillow covers, kitchen mats, table cloths, chair pads, aprons, fruit boxes are produced at Home textiles production units. HRDF is involved in various efforts in and out to create marketing linkages and fair trade for the sustainable of the social enterprises. This social enterprises have created better platform to the rural women and adolescent girls to become a social entrepreneurs and develop their economical status.
